"Born Yesterday" EP

I’ve put out a short collection of songs I wrote while sound designing Queen of the Night at Luna Stages. It’s called Born Yesterday, and it’s all about fathers and sons. When I was sound designing Queen, I found myself writing music inspired by the story: a dad, estranged from his sons and his family, attempts to reconnect with his younger son on a camping trip deep in the woods outside Houston, TX. The idea of talking, laughing, crying, screaming, and singing into the echoing forest entranced me. The older I get, the more connected I feel to the breeze and the leaves, to the deafening silence of being alone in a forest. The lyrics and music poured out of me. I recorded it at home and in the woods. I’m not an audio master, so the levels aren’t as perfect as I’d like them to be. But the pursuit of perfection, for me, has always been an excuse to not hit “publish.” So I published it in all its imperfection: Born Yesterday. It’s streaming on all platforms. Listen and let me know what you think.
